 Mr.Magsar Molom, 63, is a well-known person in Mongolia, unfortunately, for a very sad reason. His case was raised by almost all popular media of Mongolia and his letters and complaints reached at least 26 governmental and judicial organizations. He is blind since 2002. His blindness, however, is not the biggest problem for Mr.Magsar – an energetic sharp-minded man.  MONGOLIA: New Prime Minister Refuses to Control the National Radio and TV

 

Yesterday at 5p.m. Mr. Elbegdorj Ts., Prime Minister of Mongolia and Mr. Enkhbayar N., Speaker of the Parliament made a joint statement on the new government’s policy toward the existing National Radio and TV Authority which has been working as the special government agency under the direct control of the Prime Minister N.Enkhbayar during 2000-2004. In their statement made to around 20 representatives of Mongolian press, Mr.Elbegdorj and Mr.Enkhbayar said that the new Prime Minister will not continue the practice of controlling national TV and radio and the Mongolian Parliament will adopt a law on public TV and radio within its autumn session of 2004.Read more...

La Law Library Helps a Helpless

Mr. Ch.Narantsatsralt, 49, unemployed and unmarried, has recently won the central newspaper of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party “Unen” at the Supreme Court of Mongolia. It was the result of his a year-long struggle to dispute with Unen, the newspaper strongly favored the ruling government during the outgoing parliamentary term of 1996-2004. On April 5, 2003 Unen posted a humiliating information against Mr.Narantsatsralt for his participation in the demonstrations for fair land privatization in 2001-2002. Read more...

MONGOLIA: General Election Committee Exercises Unconstitional Power in favor of the MRPR

One of  the earliest decisions of the newly established Capital City Administrative Court is annulled  not by a higher Court, but by the General Election Committee, an administrative organ functioning under the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia. Although the Mongolian Constitution prohibits the exercise of judicial power by any other organization but courts, the General Election Committee particularly exercised unlawful judicial power by its meeting held on August 2, 2004.  The result of the meeting was to order that re-voting is to occur in a rural part of 24th parliamentary constituency where a candidate from the Motherland-Democratic Coalition had won by the tight margin of 51 votes in the June 27 election. MONGOLIA: Election Result is Stolen During Weekend

Around 5.30 p.m. of Friday on July 16, 2004 a Court decision was issued over the dispute about the election result of 59 th constituency of the Mongolian Parliamentary election. Recently formed Administrative Court of the Capital city has solved its second ever case stating that re-voting would be held at the 18 th point of 59 th Constituency and the losing part of the dispute could argue this decision to the Supreme Court within 10 days. MONGOLIA : Success of Democratic Opposition Silences the MPRP Dominated Election Committee

By Monday noon —fourteen hours since vote counting began in Mongolia ’s 2004 parliamentary election, Mongolian media is beginning to announce preliminary results. The Democratic Coalition and the MPRP have won at least 35-36 seats each and there is a chance that neither party will be able to form a government unless they are able to include three independent candidates (members of the Democratic Party) and the candidate from the Republican Party, or form a coalition government. The Blind to Continue Their Sturggle

The provisional Committee on protection of human rights of the bilnd under the Mongolian Association of the Blind was established in September 2003 and delivered a petition to the Government which contains some urgent issues encountered in the life of the blind to be resolved on September 19th, 2003.

The rulers promising joint solution of the issues contained in the petition stopped the struggle but they still have not kept their words and tried to make the issues indefinite. This was said at the press-conference held today by the members of the provisional Committe on protection of human rights of the blind and they declared they will restore the sturggle of the blind from April 12th, 2004.

BAABAR'S CASE TRANSFERRED INTO THE PROSECUTOR

The Case Registration office at the Police Office investigated the famous publicist, Baabar, libeling a good name of Ts. Nyamdorj, the Minister of the Justice and Internal Affairs and transferred him to the Prosecutor.

On September 19, 2003, we, from the Mongolian Association of Blinds, submitted a petition reflecting 8 vital issues of blinds that should be met urgently to the three high organs of the State. Since that not a less time has passed, but the blinds' life has not been changed positively.

THE BLINDS FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS VERY FIRST TIME
October 16, 2003

The blinds are satisfied, but "We don't surrender, we are only suspending the struggle until they fulfill their promises for us 100 percent, March 15, 2004. Our Committee has not been disbanded, it will continue to work. If they don't fulfill their words, we will continue the struggle" they said and stopped their hunger strike officially at 9.20 p.m, after they received minutes with the representatives signatures of the both sides.

After 38 years of living in a small yard in Bayanzurkh district, Nayanbaatar, 56, is about to lose his land just at the eve of recieving land ownership documentation. Instead of issuing land ownership certificate to a poor man, Mr.Enkhbold, the city mayor sends police to seize Nayanbaatar's land. Next Wave Of Demonstrations For Land Comes
Yesterday, on April 5th , the member farmers of the Fairer Land Privatization Movement (FLPM) gathered in 52th kilometers west from Ulaanbaatar to start the Movement’s third demonstration for land. There were 110 participants came from 8 villages by 8p.m. Farmers from 31 villages of 3 provinces are expected to participate in the marsh-parade-demonstration to be held in Ulaanbaatar on Monday, April 7th, during the opening ceremony of the spring session of Mongolian parliament.
