MONGOLIAN BLINDS FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS VERY FIRST TIME

The Mongolian Association of the Blind has submitted a petition to the President, N. Bagabandi, Speaker, S. Tumur-Ochir and the Prime Minister, N. Enkhbayar in September 19, 2003. They reminded the Heads of the State and Government if their vital requirements would not be met before the 15th of October, the "Day of White-Stick-Blinds", they would go on a demonstration and a hunger strike.
The Mongolian Social Welfare and Labour Minister, Shi. Batbayar, replied for the petition in October 14, 2003, but for the answers given in the reply, they had not been satisfied and therefore the blinds announced their demonstration and hunger strike in the morning of October 15. They launched the demonstration at 11.10 a.m.

They also were quoting "We are hunger all time, therefore it is better for us to be hunger in the street to reveal the real face of our life than we are hunger at home. Thus we remind to the State officials that we do not have anything to lose with us, if you, the Government and State, don't be shame. We have decided to fight to improve our condition of this severe life.

While the demonstration, the blinds held over them slogans and scripted boards in their hands and quoted about their troubles facing moment by moment with them, "Our situation is worsening day by day, our children's future is not guaranteed", they said.

However, the demonstration participators are very satisfied and proud for their political action that they have been fighting very first time by their own force for their rights and freedom and to improve their life situation through a political so hard way.

In the demonstration, over 100 blinds participated. (by 15 p.m.)

The hunger strike was announced to be launched at 17.31p.m, this day, 6 blinds, 5 men and 1 woman.
